DMR DeathGrip II - The OG Gets Better!

DMR’s DeathGrip has been a rider favourite for close to a decade, cementing its place as one of the best mountain bike grips you can buy.

The OG Deathgrip was developed by all round UK shredders Brendan Fairclough and Olly Wilkins, who unashamedly robbed elements from grips already on the market. Ironic really when you consider how many times Brendan has been robbed of a result at RedBull Rampage over the years!

Taking the knurl and waffle design of ODI’s classic Ruffian and combining it with DMR’s own mushroom pattern Sect, the DeathGrip was a hit with riders. Comfortable, grippy and endlessly stylish with its huge range of colours. There wasn’t much to complain about.

But how do you improve on an all-time favourite? You keep what makes it great and refine any rougher edges.

For the all new DeathGrip II, the original knurl, waffle and mushroom recipe remains, but the finer details have received a makeover.

The most easily noticeable is the new exposed core end. Rather than the wrap-around rubber design of the original, the exposed plastic core improves durability when things get rowdy and the stacks and crashes start to, errrr, stack up. Not only that, a new injection molded DMR end cap adds a classy branded touch.

Less obvious is the slimmer lock on clamp. The new design is slimmer than the original, making the DeathGrip shorter overall while still having the same real estate for your hands. This leaves more space on the bars for your controls, so you dial in their position just so.

The flange is also slimmer with a new relief design and fresh DMR logo.

While the improvements are subtle, they back up the more subtle things that made the original such a favourite.

The tapered core offers a super secure fit on the bars, even before you tighten the lock-on collar.

There’s still the option of two thicknesses, either 31.3mm or 29.8mm, a range of colour of options and the different compounds; Race 15A, the softest, Soft 20A or Gum 25A.

And of course, you can still choose between the flanged or flangeless design depending on your preference.

Even better for some, if change scares you then the OG is still available, completely unchanged.
