Clif Bar
If you take your sports nutrition seriously then you'll know that energy and protein bars can be a bit hit or miss. That's certainly what Cliff Bar founder, Gary, thought when he bit into an energy bar while out on a ride. "I can make better than this" he thought to himself... so he did. Developed in the United States in the early 1990s, Cliff Bar was named after Gary's father, Clifford, and came about when he had his infamous "epiphany" that he could make better energy bars than those available at the time. As anyone in the middle of a 175-mile ride would expect, energy bars were there to provide that boost to see Gary and fellow rider Jay home, but it was also meant to be tasty. It wasn't. That defining moment led to the Cliff Bar range of sports nutrition designed to keep cyclists going with something tasty and packed full of energy. Cliff Bloks, Shot Bloks and protein bars are now common place in the world of cycling and continue to provide riders with that extra boost they need - and a tasty snack!
