SRAM PG-1230 Eagle Cassette

The centrepiece of SRAM's Eagle drivetrains are the 12-speed cassettes, and the PG-1230 Eagle Cassette forms the centrepiece of the NX Eagle groupset, yet is still compatible with any other SRAM Eagle drivetrain. The PG-1230 though has a few features that set it out from the rest of the pack.

Since the introduction of SRAM's XX1 and X01 Eagle drivetrains, the world has waited with baited breath to see when the technology would trickle down to lower price points. GX Eagle led the way and now SRAM's Eagle technology is available right down to NX level. The PG-1230 forms the basis of the NX Eagle Groupset, by providing the same wall climbing 50t bottom cog as the other groupsets, while the use of an 11t top cog means the cassette fits on a regular 8/9/10 speed splined freehub, meaning lower cost and better compatibility. The cassettes uses a traditional construction method, with the biggest 4 steel cogs being pinned to a lightweight aluminium spider, and the 8 remaining cogs being pressed steel. This is cheaper to produce than the one-piece cassettes found in the other Eagle groupsets, but is also incredibly durable, with the steel construction offering incredible wear characteristics. It is also the first Eagle cassette to be fully recommended for use with e-bikes, such is its strength and durability. The SRAM PG-1230 cassette is a gateway to a massive gear range at a never before seen price point.
